My name is Chrissy Cortez-Mathis & I am an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher, E-RYT, with Yoga Alliance. I am delighted to share Yoga & other Mindful activities with people of all abilities. Since 2013, my goal has been to help people find the best way for their body to feel stronger and their mind to be calmer.
Through mindful movements and awareness of the body & breath, we all gain benefits from this timeless practice no matter your age, size or condition. Yoga is for EVERY BODY.
I teach a variety of yoga classes:
Gentle, slower paced classes that focus on body alignment & the breath. These classes allow time for exploring postures & fine tuning how the posture feels for your body. Great for the beginner or those that like to take their time.
Faster, flowing vinyasa classes that are for yogis that have a good foundation of most yoga postures; however, I will always offer guidance & variations for new yogis. Everyone is welcome! We move with our breath from pose to pose while strengthening every part of the body. This class is designed to build heat for deeper stretching once the body is warm.
Chair yoga is for those who prefer to stay off the floor. Class begins seated in the chair allowing for safely stretching, strengthening & warming up the body. We then move to standing behind the chair to practice balancing postures. All are welcome to practice the entire class in the chair as well.
I have been practicing meditation & mindfulness for many years. Incorporating these practices in my yoga classes has been a priority as people need an opportunity to practice stillness to improve brain health. I will be teaching workshops to the public as some may not wish to practice the movement portion of yoga. These science-based techniques are sure to enhance your every day life.
Every class is designed to challenge the mind & body and leave you feeling calm & relaxed. I hope our paths cross on this journey to a healthier, stronger & more content you.
